Often called ABCD of treks in the eastern himalayas. The trek season is varied. One must go avoiding monsoon. Spring offers magnificent colors of Rhododendron along with majestic Mt Kanchajungha view. Autumn is relatively clear in weather. On a clear sunny day you may be lucky to see the prominent peaks entire eastern Himalaya range – Mt Kanchanjungha, three sisters, Pandim, Kabru , Mt Everest, Mt Lhotse, Mt Makalu, Baruntse, ShishaPangma and may be Annapurna too. There are several accommodation option now – State PWD, Forest dept bunglow, apart from Trekker’s Hut, two-three private guest houses etc. A great trek route for bird lovers.

I went to Sandakphu trek last year, completed this trek in 3 days on the way did a lot of birding, Garibus is place for birders, spent one night there, before reaching the top when we were just 2 or 3 km down it started snowing, since it was my first snowfall I enjoyed trekking in snow although other people were running for the shelter but I thoroughly enjoyed. Next day morning we saw the sun rise which is beautiful sight overlooking mountain peaks.
I would recommend it to anyone who can trek to visit there.
