The trek begins from a place named Yuksom which is about 6hrs drive from Gangtok. Goechala trek route encompasses the Sachen pass and follows the Dzongri Goechala trek map.
You cross lush green meadows and opaque forests as you move towards your destination located about 90 km away. The trek usually takes around 8 days leaving your travelling time to and from Yuksom.
Day 1 : Arrive Bagdogra airport/NJP Railway Station, drive to Gangtok for 4 hours S/on Hotel.
Day 2 : Local sight seeing of Gangtok that of Rumtek Monastery, Chorten, Institute of Tibetology, Flower Show Centre, Enchey Monastery, Cottage Industry, Banjhakri Falls, Lingung Monastery Bulbuley zoological park.
Day 3 : Gangtok drive to Yuksom, (138kms) 6 hours, S/on Hotel.
Day 4 : Yuksom trek to Tshoka, Alt.2048m/12 kms/6 hrs. O/N Tents / huts Trek from Yuksom to Tshoka 18 Kms time taken approx. 6 hrs.
Day 5 : Tshoka trek to Dzongri, 10 kms, 6 hours. Via Phedang, 4 hours, 8 kms. Phedang: 3484 meters , app.
Day 6 : Dzongri Halt- Excursion to Dzongrila situated at 4,500meters.
Day 7 : Trek Dzongri-Thangsing, 6kms, and 4 hours, Thangsing: 3,639meters. Altitude decrease by 183meters.Trail begins with dune type of climb there after descends through dense Rhododendron bushes, arrive Perek River later little climb through Silver fur forest reach Thangsing. Mountain peaks overlook Thangsing Valley. Early in the morning Thangsing Deorali Dara, provides a beautiful view of Mt. Kanchendzonga.
Day 8 : Thangsing to Lamune Trek Thangsing-Samiti Lake, camp at Lamune 6 km, 3 hours, Samiti Lake: 4,453meters. Altitude Gain: 462meters.
Day 9 Lamune to gochela trek (4995 m) and back to Thangsing (3936 m/8km/7hrs).
Day 10 : Thangsing trek back to Tshoka (2828 m/10km/4hrs).
Day 11 : Tshoka trek to Yuksum (1560 m/16km/6hrs).
Day 12 : Yuksum to Darjeeling via pelling
Day 13 : Darjeeling full day sight seeing
Day 14 : Drop back to Bagdogra/NJP station according to schedule.
